Strict requirements for pipeline ball valves for pipeline transportation (part 1)
DIN valve Manufacturer shares that the long-distance pipeline is a global energy supply line that runs from the Arctic Circle to the equator, from mountains to the ocean floor, from plateaus to deserts, through seismic zones, marshes, permafrost, rivers, lakes and hillsides. It is difficult to operate in the field and maintain, which requires a service life of 30 years. Generally, crude oil and natural gas are transported, although they are treated, they contain sulfur, rust and metal particles, and require zero-grade sealing. Due to the harsh practical use environment and the importance of energy supply line, strict technical requirements are put forward for pipeline ball valves.
1. Strength and toughness
In addition to bearing the pressure of internal medium, the valve still needs to bear the bearing capacity of foundation, the axial tension and pressure caused by the change of environment temperature, considering the external load caused by landslide, ground settlement and flood, in the cold zone and frozen area, it is still necessary to consider the low temperature impact toughness of materials to prevent low temperature brittle fracture. For all-welded valve body ball valve, welding seam and heat affected zone, fracture toughness (CTOD) should be considered according to fracture mechanics theory.
2. Zero-level sealing requirements
The valve requires a zero-level seal to ensure effective cut-off of the downstream pipeline. Considering the impact of metal particles in the medium on the zero-level seal, the metal-to-metal seal is the primary seal, the PTFE/ rubber seal is the secondary seal, and emergency sealing measures should be taken once the seal fails.
3. Fire safety and anti-static function;
Pipeline ball valves shall be designed with fire safe in mind. In case of fire, external and internal leakage of valves shall not exceed API607. The ball is clamped by a non-metallic material, which may generate static electricity, and must conduct with the valve body. Resistance <10 ohm at 24VDC.
4. DBB function (Double Brock & Bleed)
In the valve cavity discharge, upstream end seat and downstream end seat should be automatically cut off at the same time, to ensure the safety of discharge.
